Kelra helps teachers organize teaching work, review submissions, and prepare feedback. This policy describes the current guest-based app, including optional connected services and AI assistance. Apple and Google Kelra accounts are not yet available.
Who operates Kelra

Work stored on your device
Classes, student records, assignments, scans, recognized text, rubrics, scores, feedback, notes, planning records, assistant conversations, parent contacts, cached mail, and message drafts are stored locally. Scanning, text recognition, and manual editing do not require an AI upload. Kelra does not currently provide account-based cloud backup or synchronization. Device backups and exported files are governed by the services and locations you choose.
Optional AI assistance
When you authorize an AI action, Kelra sends the material needed for that action to its Google Cloud backend and Google's Gemini API. Grading may include recognized submission text, selected page images, rubric criteria, answer keys, subject, course level, and teacher instructions. Feedback rewriting, rubric extraction, and plan extraction send the relevant text. Kelra Assistant sends your question, recent conversation context, and selected workspace evidence needed to prepare its answer. Names and other personal information may appear within submitted text or images.
Use these features only with material you are authorized to share under your school's policies. AI output requires teacher review. You can stop future AI uploads by using local tools and reset the app's AI consent choices under Privacy & Data Use. Resetting consent does not recall a completed request.
Kelra keeps generated grading responses for a 24-hour retry window so an interrupted request can recover its result. Responses become unavailable for retry after that window; physical deletion occurs through asynchronous Firestore cleanup. Original source pages and text are not deliberately persisted by Kelra's API as a separate source archive, but generated responses can contain excerpts of student work.
Google's processing has separate retention rules. Its Gemini abuse-monitoring policy describes retention of prompts, context, and outputs for 55 days for abuse prevention and applicable disclosures, including possible authorized human review. Kelra's 24-hour retry window is not a promise that Google deletes all copies within 24 hours. See also Gemini API terms.
Installation security and free samples
Kelra uses Apple App Attest to authenticate installations and protect API requests. The backend stores an installation key identifier, public verification key, assertion counter, and registration information. Free-draft accounting stores installation-linked usage, operation identifiers, and content fingerprints. Completed usage and operation records have no automatic expiry; they prevent repeated free usage and duplicate charges for retries. They are not a backup of your teaching records. Unfinished reservations expire after two minutes.
Google Classroom and Drive
Connecting Classroom is optional and separate from access to Kelra's local tools. Google authorization allows the app to read supported courses, rosters, student profile email addresses, coursework, submissions, and supported Drive attachments, and to create supported coursework and write numeric draft grades when you initiate those actions. Google controls whether your school account permits those actions.
Imported information is stored in your local workspace. If you later ask Kelra to use AI on imported work, the AI processing described above applies. Disconnecting does not delete previously imported records or revoke material already shared. You can also remove Kelra's access through your Google Account's third-party connections settings.
Optional parent email
Where configured, you can connect Gmail or Outlook to read correspondence involving the parent contacts you select and send messages you review and confirm. The app communicates directly with the mail provider, using its authorization and security controls. It stores connected-account identifiers, cached messages, and drafts in your local workspace. Mail permissions can be broader than the contact filter used by Kelra. Provider restrictions or missing configuration can make a connection unavailable.
Kelra does not automatically forward your mailbox to its AI service. If you include email content in an AI request, the AI processing above applies. Disconnecting a mailbox in Kelra does not recall sent messages; manage provider permissions and retained copies through your Google or Microsoft account.
Subscriptions
Apple handles purchases and payment details. Kelra uses StoreKit and sends an Apple-signed transaction to its backend for paid AI access. The backend verifies subscription information with Apple. Kelra does not receive your payment card number. Subscription expiry does not lock your saved local work.
Service providers and technical records
Apple provides purchases and installation verification; Google provides cloud hosting, Firestore, Gemini, and any Classroom/Drive or Gmail connection you authorize. Microsoft provides Outlook authorization and mail services where configured. Hosting providers may process IP addresses, request times, response codes, and other operational metadata. Kelra does not intentionally log submission bodies or signed purchase tokens. The Google Cloud default operational log bucket is configured for 30-day retention. Security/audit logs and providers' own records can have separate retention requirements.
Kelra does not include advertising or cross-app tracking. We do not sell personal information. The public website and policy pages are hosted by Cloudflare, which processes visitor technical information to deliver and protect the site. See Cloudflare's privacy policy. The site's own code does not include analytics, advertising, forms, or tracking cookies.
Deletion and requests
You can delete local records in the app and manage exported copies and device backups separately. Removing the app does not erase server security or usage records, provider records, or independent backups. Contact the address above to request access, correction, or deletion of information Kelra controls. We may need enough information to locate an installation record and verify the request; do not email student submissions or purchase credentials. Retention required for security, fraud prevention, or applicable obligations may limit deletion, and we will explain relevant limits.
Kelra is intended for educators aged 18 or older, not student-operated accounts. Teachers and schools remain responsible for authorizing the handling of student records. Processing by service providers may occur outside your country. This policy does not assert school-contract, FERPA, COPPA, or other regulatory certification.
Changes
We will update this page when the app's processing changes and request additional in-app consent where appropriate. The effective date above identifies the current version.
